Hydraulic Valve Lifter for Subaru Boxer Engines

Keep your valve train quiet, accurate, and long‑lasting with a precision hydraulic valve lifter (aka cam follower/lash adjuster). Built for Subaru boxer engines, it stabilizes valve lash, preserves cam lobes, and maintains smooth power and clean emissions.

Why this part is needed

It sets correct valve clearance automatically. Proper lash means stable compression, crisp throttle response, silent operation, and improved fuel economy. It also protects the camshaft and rocker interfaces from scoring.

How it works

Engine oil feeds a tiny plunger and check valve inside the lifter. The plunger expands to remove lash between cam and valve stem. Under load, the check valve locks oil inside, creating a solid link that follows cam lift precisely across all RPM and temperatures.

If it fails: symptoms and risks ⚠️

Cold or hot ticking, rough idle, misfire, loss of power, and poor economy. A collapsed or sticking lifter can cause incorrect valve timing, cam lobe wear, burnt valves, and even catalytic damage from unburnt fuel. Metal debris may circulate and harm bearings.

Pro tips for installation ️

Pre‑lube and prime with clean oil, verify oil pressure, replace dirty filters, and keep intervals correct. Pair with healthy cam surfaces; replace in sets if wear patterns differ.
