    Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor for Mitsubishi Cooling System ️

    This small sensor is the brain’s thermometer for your engine. It feeds the ECU accurate coolant temperature so the car can control fuel mix, ignition timing, idle speed, radiator fan, and the dash gauge. A healthy sensor protects the engine from overheating and keeps fuel economy in check .

    Why you need it

    Proper temperature data means smooth cold starts, clean warm running, stable idle, and timely fan operation. It prevents hot spots, detonation, and catalytic converter damage while improving mileage.

    How it works

    Inside is an NTC thermistor sealed in a brass body with a threaded tip and a two-pin connector. As coolant warms, resistance drops. The ECU reads the voltage change (about 0.2–4.5 V) and adjusts fueling, spark, and fan commands. A sealing washer keeps the system leak-free.

    If the sensor fails

    - Hard cold starts or rich running, high fuel use
    - Radiator fan stuck on or won’t come on, risk of overheating
    - Rough idle, poor power, long warm-up
    - Gauge dead or spiking, Check Engine Light

    Tech tips

    Install on a cool engine. Use the correct torque, fresh washer, and clean connector. Do not overuse sealant (sensor needs good ground). Bleed air after refilling coolant.
